一連串的荒謬誤會與巧合、驚險的閃避與化險為夷，好萊塢喜劇中常見的橋段，都來自十九世紀喜劇大師尤金‧拉比什(Eugène Labiche)的經典作品《義大利草帽》(Un Chapeau de Paille d’Italie)。這個劇本定義了何謂佳構劇（Well-made Play），並被改編成無數版本。這次，沙丁龐客劇團首次挑戰大型劇場，由知名編劇王友輝將經典喜劇全新改編為《帽似真愛》，打造「新臺式面具音樂喜劇」。
本劇結合歐洲面具喜劇、默劇、雜耍、小丑、歌舞與情境喜劇，力邀金曲製作人鍾成虎統籌音樂，音樂鬼才盧廣仲譜寫主題曲，歌手魏如萱登臺獻唱，集結重量級喜劇高手朱德剛、朱宏章與劇場新秀， 展開一場喜劇功力大車拼！
故事發生在新郎小迪的大喜之日，他沒想到一頂帽子竟開啟一連串災難。早晨颳起一陣怪風，將一頂帽子吹進小迪懷裡，又颳進路邊的火堆中；此時一對男女衝出，要求他找到相同的帽子作賠償，否則就要大鬧婚禮。
帽子尋覓之旅就此展開，焦急的小迪為此鬧出許多哭笑不得的笑話。

Today is Dean’s wedding day. While stopping by a motel on his way home, he accidentally sees a hat flying out from a window. He trys to catch it but in vain. The hat falls into a pile of fire nearby. Without a second thought, Dean proceeds to continue his journey. At that very moment, a couple run up to him, demanding compensation for the destroyed hat. Complications inevitably pile up, as Dean offers to replace the hat, trying desperately not to jeopardize his wedding day.
An Italian Straw Hat is a sparkling comedy of errors. It is a 19th century French classic adapted by the well-known Taiwanese playwright Yu-Hui Wang and developed with Theatre de la Sardine’s performers. The production pioneers in presenting the “New Taiwanese Masked Musical Theatre,” incorporating elements of commedia dell’arte (Italian comedy with actors wearing small black cat-masks), mime, acrobatics, and clowning.
希望藉由面具、小丑、歌舞、默劇、物件、集體發展等元素，融合互動式劇場、即興喜劇與肢體劇場的方式，摸索新的表演形式，進而創造屬於當代東方的大眾劇場。
